About Us
Where It All Started
Atlantis Swimming Academy was formed in 1998 by Lynsey Pearson at The Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, where she is also the swimming coordinator for Wakefield Grammar School Foundation.
Lynsey's husband Mark, joined her to operate the swimming school in the year 2000. Mark currently works for the swimming school on a full-time basis and he is also the Head of Swimming at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Wakefield.
Very Friendly and Caring Environment
Atlantis Swimming Academy has earned itself an excellent reputation for providing very high standards of tuition within small well-structured and organised groups, in a very friendly and caring environment.
Catering for All Levels and Ages
Swimming lessons are taught to children from the age of 3 years in the “Little Atlantis” small group lessons and to children from the age of 4 years and upwards in the mainstream “Atlantis” small group lessons. Groups are streamed in terms of their ability and all levels are catered for; beginner, intermediate, advanced and pre-competition development.
High Levels of Tutition
Mark and Lynsey are committed to maintaining and improving the high level of tuition at Atlantis Swimming Academy. The swimming teachers are selected for their knowledge of the sport, their experience, professionalism and love of working with children.
Fully Qualified Teachers
All swimming teachers at Atlantis Swimming Academy must be qualified through Swim England. They must also hold the “National Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers and Coaches” lifesaving qualification and hold an Advanced DBS check.
Atlantis Swimming Academy is an Swim England Swimming School Member and adheres to their wavepower child safeguarding policy. They also fully operate and utilise the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway as approved by ofsted.
Mark and Lynsey Pearson are both Fellows of the Institute of Swimming Teachers & Coaches.
